The fall of 2005, Isamu Noguchi exhibition was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art.

Though he was a great artist, but I only knew him as the designer of good coffee table and AKARI: lighting equipment. It’s shame on me.

 

I heard that " Sculpture of the Earth " in Hokkaido had been finished through the exhibition. That was the MOERENUMA Park. (NUMA means marsh in English)  I appreciated the model of the MOERENUMA Park at the exhibition and I have wanted to visit sometime.

 

Summer of 2013 that eight years have passed since then, I visited the MOERENUMA Park at last.

I drove about 30 min from downtown of Sapporo-city, and idyllic scenery was spread around.

Unfortunately the weather was not so good, but wind of Hokkaido autumn made us feel very good.

It is possible to overlook the city of Sapporo and the overall picture of the park from the top of the MOERE mountain that is a beautiful cone.

 

 

You can see the Glass Pyramid and the MOERE mountain from the MOERE beach.

 

Fountain of the sea reproduces powerful ocean wave.

However, it has been damaged by lightning after I visited, it stops operation.

 

 

It's a place where you can feel natural, but it's a wonderful place where you can feel that it's "sculpture of the earth" .

 

It is one of the most favorite places in Hokkaido for me. It is very difficult to have to describe in words, but to go once anyway, I want you to spend time leisurely.

 

However, you should bring your own lunch because there is only a fine restaurant and a small shop.
